As an adult in my 30s, who has always wanted to pick up a violin again since playing for one year in 5th grade... Finally deciding to take the leap and seriously look into taking lessons was a little scary. It's awkward & humbling to start something new as a "grow up"! When I started looking for a teacher and came across the Maple Strings website, I really appreciated Mr. B's approach. I sent him a nice long email explaining who I am, why I wanted to play violin again, and why I was nervous. He responded promptly was so kind & encouraging and put me at ease! That was over a year ago, and he has only continued to do the same since. In lessons he encourages without being overwhelming, pushes without being intense, and tells you what you need to know without being harsh. So much knowledge, conveyed in a positive & uplifting way. He's always there to remind me of things when I am my own worst critic. He will never make you feel badly about yourself, even if you're struggling with something.
I currently have no children but I would never hesitate to have my child take lessons from him either!
